The Sandy Lake Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Museum was started in 1989. Several village women were concerned about possibly losing and forgetting about their Ukrainian heritage, and so formed the Sandy Lake Cultural Heritage Association which evolved into the museum.
The museum's first exhibit was presented at the Sandy Lake Senior's Drop-In Centre. The following year, a room next to the fire Hall was found and turned into the museum we have today.
The founding members (those at the first meeting) of the museum were:
Joyce Coulsen
Anne Huculak
Eunice Korocsil
Stella Kowalchuk
Helen Lewandoski
Elsie Maximchuk
Anne Woytowich

Volunteers

The museum has spearheaded many village projects with minimal volunteers. It is a testimony to the resilience of our volunteers that the museum has been made into what it is today.
